Movie Buzz : Night at the Museum 2
Just a short review since I have been forgetting to blog about this and it’s back to working days for me. Caught the movie 2 weeks back and here’s something for those who have yet to catch this film !

Night at the Museum left a really good impression on me a few years back with its funny plot and interesting characters. Ben Stiller made the museum a whole lot more interesting, leaving me secretly wishing that our local museums might come alive someday (haha)
Frankly, I was not expecting an exciting sequel since “the first is always the best” myth is usually the truth. Nonetheless, I had an enjoyable time trying to figure the whole mayhem. A nice way of developing the story was bringing the whole story out and recreate something new from there, a grand scale I must add. It was a good start with the audience wondering what Ben Stiller “Larry” would do – friendship or the reality aka money ? Though the story is a pretty “duh, else the movie can’t go on” storyline but it was simple to hook on to and be part of the journey.
Love the new additions to the cast, like Hank Azaria as “Kah Mun Rah” was hilarious with his dramatic acting even if it gets boring after awhile. Amy Adams as “Amelia Earhart” is gorgeous but I thought her character was a little weaker than I would have imagined. I still think Owen Wilson “Jedediah” and Steve Coogan “Octavius” were the main limelight stealers, perhaps because of their size and the buildup from the previous film. Most of all, I miss the cuteness from Easter Island Head that goes “Dum-dum, you give me gum-gum”! But the cupids were really adorable, especially when they were so irritating with the singing. Overall, I think the introduction of new characters was practically chaotic but it is not too difficult to comprehend since most of them are quite iconic figures.
But I guess there are bound to have loopholes here and there between the sequels. If I’m not wrong, in the last film , everything will turn into dust if not returned to their original places by sunrise. However, in this film..it doesn’t appear so ? Continuity error ?
Quite a slapstick comedy with a lively realization of historical iconic figures, far from brilliant though, as compared to the first. Nevertheless an enjoyable film for the simple plot and neat special effects ! Worth the watch I say, what do you think ?
(AOTW) Artist Of The Week : Never Shout Never
As a Campus Radio DJ on SMU Campus Radio for coming 2 years, I have always been actively promoting local/myspace artists on my radio shows. My co-host from my most recent show, Rachel and I decided to feature one myspace.com artist per week for our listeners and I really enjoyed doing that because sharing is always fun ! Not only do you get to “interact” with your listeners but you also have the “power” to “force” your listeners into listening to your current playlist. (Haha, Just Kidding!)
I blogged about blip.fm earlier on where I share my music picks on a regular basis, but it is getting frustrating with the preview clips and youtube videos feature. So I decided to bring the artist of the week (AOTW) segment to my blog instead ! I will feature either a myspace or local artist each week (but I will keep things short and sweet), so stay tuned !
To start things off with a happy note (no pun intended, you’ll understand later), this week I’m going to share with you this 6 people band “Never Shout Never“.
You can read more about them from their myspace profile. One thing I’ll like to highlight is 18 years old Christofer Drew (vocal) has a really unique voice, it really caught my attention when I first heard their songs. (And he looks really cute with his ukulele too ! Click here to watch him LIVE *warning : crazy fans screams and shakey hands*)
Here’s my favourite (and their latest single) “Happy”, I was telling Daryl (who also have his “Music Mondays” ) that I really liked the lyrics. One of those “puts a smile on my face” songs. In fact, their EP will be out soon and their songs are all available on iTunes, do check them out if you like their music !
< Never Shout Never – Happy >
You make me happy, whether you know it or not
We should be happy, that’s what I said from the start
I am so happy, Knowing you are the one that
I’ll love for the rest of my days,
(for the rest of my days), yes, all of my days!
you’re looking so cool, you’re looking so fly,
I can’t deny that when I’m staring you down
right dead in the eye, I wanna try to be the person you want,
the person you need,
it’s hard to conceive that somebody like you,
could be with, somebody like me
I’m happy knowing you are mine,
the grass is greener on the other side,
The More I think, The more I wish that we
could lay here for hours, and just reminisce.
Ooh ooh,
you’re looking so fresh it’s catching my eye,
why oh why, did I not see this before,
the girl I adore, was right in front of me.
and now I’ll take a step back,
and look in your eye and ask why,
It took so long for me too see, we’re meant to be.
I’m happy knowing you are mine,
the grass is greener on the other side,
The More I think, The more I wish that
we could lay here for hours, and just reminisce.
On the good the bad the ugly,
the smiles the laughs the funny,
oh all the things we put each
other through, it’s for you, for you
You make me happy, whether you know it or not
We should be happy, that’s what I said from the start
I am so happy, Knowing you are the one that
I’ll love for the rest of my days
I’m happy knowing you are mine,
the grass is greener on the other side,
The More I think, The more I wish that we
could lay here for hours, and just reminisce.
Ooh Ooh

Shame On You Seat Hoggers !
How often do you give up your seat on public transport to someone who really needs it more than you do? I have been taught since young to do so, basic courtesy they said. Of course there are selfish moments (especially when you’re at the rebellious stage) but my parents shares the same habit of pushing me out of my seat so that someone else can take it. It has almost become a habit for me to offer my seat instantly when I see someone who needs one . I dare say 90% of the time I do so (10% for times when I am really sick, at least I’m honest!)
I’m not posting this because I want to say how awesome I am (I already know that, HAHA) It was the following incident triggered my thoughts on this matter.
TIME/VENUE: 0815,BEDOK STATION
SCENE: CROWDED TRAIN, old couple boards the train
In front of me (priority seat) – 25+ years old guy, listening to music and napping
The old couple was standing behind me and the old man kept losing his balance and ended up bumping into me. I figured that it would be better for him to be seated instead of swaying behind my back and knocking my head at every stop. Obviously I can’t be the one giving up my non-existence seat and nobody seems to notice the old couple.
The very clever me, decided to do something – I “accidently” kicked the leg of the guy sitting in front of me (priority seat), hoping that he’ll get the “hint”. Sure enough, he woke up long enough to shoot me a nasty look and he stopped to steal a glance at the old couple behind me.

I ACTUALLY thought my plan worked but hell no, he stared at the elderly commuters long enough to probably think “oh wait, they are neither “holding a candy cane” nor “just a bit fat” nor “ventriloquists” like what krisandro mentioned. (Thanks for the picture!) So he figured that he should get more shut-eyes on this great-to-sleep-in-workday, blissfully ignoring their presence. Apparently, his priority is to sleep.
There’ll always be people who aren’t affected by the signs, no matter how it’s ‘in your face’, but I hope the new campaign prompts more people to offer their seats or at least effective enough in raising awareness. Is there something wrong with our public education ? First ignorant “netizens”, then selfish commuters…what’s next to expect from Singaporeans?
What else can SMRT/SBS do in order to get people to actually offer their seats to these people with “special needs” (I don’t quite like the term actually)
Shame on you seat hoggers ! (and DOUBLE SHAME ON YOU TO THE GUY I KICKED THIS MORNING !)
