[EVENT] Noise-Timbre Singer-Songwriter Programme
If you have been following my AOTW posts (which has been neglected for some time..so sorry!), you will realize that I am a huge supporter of YouTube and local talents. So many of them have made it big (just look at Sam Tsui, Christina Grimmie, Maddi Jane, our very own local singer Inch Chua etc !) It is not an impossible dream for you aspiring songwriters/singers out there.
In just another 11 days time, submission will close on 16th Jan for this year’s Noise-Timbre Singer-Songwriter Programme and 6 winners will emerge from the 10 finalists, whereby they will go through a 4-week fully-sponsored professional course to train them in performance and technical skills. As a ‘graduation’ from the course, they will then take on the stage for 20 minutes as an opening act at Timbre@ the Substation! The trainers include local music veterans like Mang Irama Dusique from Goodfellas/Zero Sequence and music veteran Kevin Mathews.
Sounds really exciting and I can’t wait to see the finalists videos! Hope to see some familiar names when the public voting begins!

AOTW [36] : Maddi Jane
While everyone is going crazy over Justin Bieber, I think Maddi Jane is one lovely kid who has the voice and total cuteness ! 11 years old, I was busy playing stupid games with my friends and this adorable little girl here is already making a success in her career ! In fact, she was invited to The Ellen DeGeneres Show recently too !
Loved her cover of The Script’s ‘Breakeven’, which happens to be one of the songs that was on repeat in my playlist for the past months.
Moving on…as much as I think it’s quite weird for kids like Justin Bieber and Maddi Jane to be singing songs that’s about relationships and heartbreaks, I really wonder if they actually ‘feel’ what they’re singing about but I guess kids hit puberty pretty fast these days. Here’s her latest with yet another on-repeat songs of mine, enjoy !
Impossible by Shontelle
I remember years ago
Someone told me I should take
Caution when it comes to love
I did, I did
And you were strong and I was not
My illusion, my mistake
I was careless, I forgot
I did
And now when all is done
There is nothing to say
You have gone and so effortlessly
You have won
You can go ahead tell them
Tell them all I know now
Shout it from the roof top
Write it on the sky love
All we had is gone now
Tell them I was happy
And my heart is broken
All my scars are open
Tell them what I hoped would be
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Falling out of love is hard
Falling for betrayal is worst
Broken trust and broken hearts
I know, I know
Thinking all you need is there
Building faith on love is worst
Empty promises will wear
I know (i know)
And know when all is gone
There is nothing to say
And if you’re done with embarrassing me
On your own you can go ahead tell them
Tell them all I know now
Shout it from the roof top
Write it on the sky love
All we had is gone now
Tell them I was happy
And my heart is broken
All my scars are open
Tell them what I hoped would be
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Ooh impossible (yeah yeah)
I remember years ago
Someone told me I should take
Caution when it comes to love
I did
Tell them all I know now
Shout it from the roof top
Write it on the sky love
All we had is gone now
Tell them I was happy (i was happy)
And my heart is broken
All my scars are open
Tell them what I hoped would be
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
I remember years ago
Someone told me I should take
Caution when it comes to love
I did
P.S : Thanks to my dearest junior, kr, for the intro ! ![]()
