In less than 140 characters

Decided to keep things short and wrap twenty-ten in one tweet.

“Heartbroken.Loving myself more.Self discovery.Table talks treasured.Parents aging.Home alone.Final sem.New jobs.Doomie.Blogging continues.

Back to singlehood, learning to love myself more and re-discovering the focus in life. Appreciating chats with friends and the oh so wise parents (though I refuse to admit it most of the time). Great experience to have the house to myself for a couple of months and I have to say, taking care of me myself alone and the flat is tiring yet quite an adventure. Bid farewell to year 3 and moving on to my final year as undergrad in SMU. Started coaching students and totally loving my new job. Picked up a new language (French).Gotten another part time job offer which I’m looking forward to begin in the new year. Doomie the hamster never fails to amuse me and she has no choice but stay by my side during teary lonely nights. Blogging has been fun despite the once-in-awhile-laziness but grateful to meet new friends and having opportunities such as being Top 20 World’s Coolest Intern and the chance to attend awesome events etc.

It has been an interesting year – not exactly my best but I am grateful for all the experiences I’ve had. Hopefully 2011 will be a better year (Of course it will…I am FINALLY graduating!)

Thank you for being part of my 2010 and continuous support as a friend/reader! Let’s have a blast in 2011 together!

RockMelt Browser – Productivity Killer

As you can tell, I’m pretty excited over the new RockMelt browser – thanks to @wilfredphua, I am now having fun trying the browser out !

First impression : Clean, sleek and user-friendly interface. Very thoughtful in fact. On the left, firstly you have your own profile picture that allows you to update your Facebook status or tweet. Below,we have your Facebook chat friend list which you can customize to view your ‘favorite friends’. The browser works mainly like how Chrome does with the tabs and history browser. In addition, there’s a ‘Share’ button that allows you to post links directly to your Facebook wall or a message to friend or even as a tweet. On the right you have 4 main buttons – one to send out RockMelt invites and share the love, second is your Facebook News feed, third would be your Facebook notifications, last but not least – you have your Twitter feeds. How cool is that ? Very !

Unlike Flock, which personally I thought was a instant failure when I first tried it, I think RockMelt caught my attention as it’s like the polished product of Chrome+Flock. The only concern I have is security (RockMelt ask for access to almost everything for Facebook) and speed. I’m not that much of a geek to test out the browser speed and do an comparison but so far, I am satisfied the speed for my daily browsing habits. Oh, did I mention they directly shorten URLs as well ? Awesome.

Totally a productivity killer as well, what do you think ?

Good Enough Is Not Good Enough

A friend replied to my earlier tweet :

“Why go for good enough when you have a better option before you?”

His reply ?

@iammyy cos life is simple like that. good enough is really enough.”

Let me clarify something, I don’t disagree with his statement that sometimes (or rather, most of the time) – good enough is really enough.

However, let us all remember that just good enough does not equate to

  • Low quality – this is not an excuse to produce low quality work
  • Poor effort – it’s about efficiency and not having a ‘heck care’ attitude

I believe that you don’t begin planning with a ‘good enough’ mindset but instead, set realistic benchmarks and identify those unrealistic ones so that you will know when ‘good enough is enough’. What sets it apart is “tried-my-best-good-enough job” and “half-assed work”.

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes if that’s what stopping you, it’s just part of the growth and process. Nothing is flawless in my opinion, so embrace your mistakes and learn.

Don’t be mistaken. I’m not a perfectionist.

If I strive for perfection, I don’t think I’ll get any blog posts out anyways ! (HAHA)
